Description

The GitHub Administration Certification course is designed to help learners build the practical skills and exam-focused knowledge required to confidently prepare for and clear the GH100: GitHub Administration exam. Tailored for GitHub administrators, DevOps engineers, platform engineers, security professionals, and IT professionals, the course covers the key concepts and skills required to administer and govern GitHub Enterprise environments.

Through conceptual lessons, guided demonstrations, hands-on labs, real-world administration scenarios, and mock exams, you'll learn how to effectively manage GitHub Enterprise environments and apply administration, security, governance, automation, and monitoring practices at scale.

The course covers both GitHub Enterprise Cloud (GHEC) and GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES), with practical scenarios focused on enterprise administration, identity and access management, security and compliance, GitHub Actions, troubleshooting, monitoring, and optimization.

The course culminates in hands-on labs covering the major administration domains, along with two full-length mock exams designed to reinforce your knowledge, assess your exam readiness, and help you confidently prepare for and clear the GH100: GitHub Administration exam.

Course Modules & Learning Outcomes

Foundation Setup

Build a strong foundation in GitHub Enterprise administration. Learn about the GitHub enterprise hierarchy, licensing models, personal accounts, enterprises, organizations, membership management, billing, metered products, and organization-level configuration. You'll also learn how to enforce security requirements such as two-factor authentication across your enterprise.

Identity and Access Management

Learn how to design and manage secure identity and access strategies for enterprise GitHub environments. Explore SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, team synchronization, Okta integration, Enterprise Managed Users, and data residency. You'll understand how different identity models affect user management and enterprise governance.

Governance and Roles

Understand GitHub's permission hierarchy and inheritance model and learn how to manage repository and organization access effectively. You'll work with teams, repository member privileges, rulesets, branch protection, sensitive commits, and developer workflow standards using pull request templates, CODEOWNERS, and issue templates.

Security and Compliance

Explore GitHub's layered security capabilities through GitHub Advanced Security (GHAS). Learn how to protect credentials, detect and respond to exposed secrets, secure dependencies with Dependabot, analyze code with CodeQL, and use GitHub Security Advisories and security policies to strengthen repository security.

You'll also learn how to manage personal access tokens, GitHub Apps, OAuth applications, enterprise application policies, and third-party application access.

GitHub Actions and Runners

Learn how to govern and standardize GitHub Actions across enterprise environments. Explore reusable workflows, composite actions, Actions policies, enterprise repository policies, self-hosted runners, runner groups, diagnostics, environment governance, branch targeting, OIDC, and secrets management.

You'll also learn how to optimize GitHub Actions usage and costs while maintaining appropriate security and governance controls.

Administration and Support

Develop the skills needed to troubleshoot and support GitHub Enterprise environments effectively. Learn to distinguish administrator responsibilities from GitHub Support responsibilities, use diagnostic tooling across GHEC and GHES, analyze audit logs, perform forensic searches, and evaluate GitHub adoption and license utilization.

Monitoring and Optimization

Learn how to monitor GitHub enterprise usage, API rate limits, and security and Actions metrics. Explore audit log streaming, GraphQL APIs, PAT SSO authorization, rate limiting, and techniques for analyzing enterprise activity and optimizing GitHub resources.

You'll also learn how to respond to compromised secrets using tools such as git-filter-repo.
