Hi all, just passed the CKAD with a score of 86 a few days ago. Definitely interested in the CKA. A few questions:

  1. How much overlap is there between the two KodeKloud courses?
  2. Should I do the CKA course in entirety or just concentrate on specific sections?
  3. Is there a massive difficulty difference between these two exams?

  1. Around 30-40%
  2. You should go though the course from the beginning to the end, you can skip any section that you feel confident
  3. CKA considered harder but not much, if you already passed CKAD, you should be able to do the same with CKA.

Awesome thanks Trung! I feel like their should be a “delta” course of sorts as it seems that a lot of people do the CKAD first then the CKA right after.

Including me, I passed CKAD then 1 year later, I start my CKA exam.
I just go through the course and if the topic is well-known, i just skipped it, doesn’t take much effort!.

One more question @Trung Tran: I practiced a lot on minikube on my laptop prior to the CKAD and it helped a tremendous amount. Do I need to build a “real” kubernetes cluster on my laptop for the CKA or is minikube sufficient?

Trung Tran:
Lab and mock exam are good enough for the exam purpose, but if you want to gain more knowledge, try kubernetes the hard way (setup k8s cluster from scratch using kubeadm), it would help you understand better.
