Unable to SSH using Azure CLI on VM

Hello, I created a VM as I’m following along in a course and when I try to “SSH using Azure CLI” I’m met with the following issue:

“Prerequisites could not be configured”

Specifically, “Virtual machine user or administrator login
Unable to configure virtual machine administrator login role on the resource group: “No Rbac permissions:[‘Microsoft.Authorization/roleAssignments/write’]””

It looks like I have no write access, I looked to try and give myself permissions, but it doesn’t look like that is possible.

Please assist and advise.

Is there a particular lab or lecture you’re following along with? A link might be helpful here.

I’m following along with a udemy course for Microsoft Azure. Seems I am rather limited here as I am not allowed to add roles here.

I basically created a normal VM and am trying to access that VM via the Azure CLI connect.

Can you tell me which course, and the lecture you’re following, if there is one?

Sure, here is a link

https://avianaglobal.udemy.com/course/azure-certification-az-900-azure-fundamentals/learn/lecture/44900049

Section 3: Creating your first virtual machine and the problem is in “17: Step 03 - Connecting to Azure Virtual Machine and Running Commands”

Do you have any courses you recommend on KodeKloud where I wont run into issues for Azure / GCP?

Thanks.

We do have a course for AZ900. Although if you’re taking Avian Global’s course, you should also ask them; I’m not sure what’s in their lab, since it’s somebody else

Is there a way around the permission’s issue? I still would like to check out SSH using Azure CLI.

As Rob has said, we cannot comment on other providers’ courses. We have no idea how their labs are set up and therefore cannot tell you anything about the permissions.
