Severe waiting times to update yum repositories data

This post is only to report an issue that I have been a few times in the past (the most recent, today).

I’m particularly surprised to observe very long waiting times (22 minutes on the screenshot, but the max was 45 mins) to update the Yum repos.

I’m unsure if this should happen, as I expect KKE to use a local mirror to avoid this unwanted scenario. This can limit the ability of the student to complete the exercise within the time allocated.

After 24 mins:

Curl error (28): Timeout was reached for http://mirrors.raystedman.org/centos/8-stream/AppStream/x86_64/os/repodata/d3f89f78e279f5f643e9b7987be4343455f51f4d3d84d283dc33f32c932a6b62-primary.xml.gz [Operation too slow. Less than 1000 bytes/sec transferred the last 30 seconds]

Now, I need to reupdate the yum repo, making it impossible to complete the exercise within the time window.

If you have a log of the environments to analyse the issue, the task id is 6407201f741b204d59fbe9a9.

Internal ticket raised to investigate
