Preparing for CKA Certification

Hi All,

Hope you all are doing well and this is my first message in Kodekloud slack.

My name is Rajan and I am preparing for CKA Certification and I am new to this technology. I am first starting with Kubernetes for beginners videos so I need guidance that do I need to give the exam for Kubernetes for beginners or Certified Kubernetes Administrator covers Kubernetes for beginners part as well.

I would definitely start with the beginner’s course – CKA is a lot to take on if you’ve never done anything with Kubernetes before. Hopefully you’re comfortable with basic Linux commands, and know a few docker commands (running, deleting, and running commands in containers) as well.

Best of luck!

Hi Rob,

Hope you are doing good…!!!

Thanks for your quick reply…!!!

I am a core project management guy and high level knowledge about the technologies. In parallel I am going through and learning the Linux for beginners and dockers for beginner course which I am seeing that is a part of CKA. Still my question is that do I need to first give the Kubernetes for beginners exam or I can directly give the CKA exam and does CKA course also covers Kubernetes for beginners course. I am also seeing that there is an "Ultimate CKA Mock exam so after preparing this mock exam should I am able to give the exam ? If not please share me the other preparation content from where I can prepare for the CKA exam.

One more question to ask do we have any option where I can copy the “Transcript” and paste it into the Notepad ?

There isn’t really a “beginner’s exam”. Mostly you just need to be able to do basic tasks in a K8s cluster like listing objects, creating simple pods, and doing a bit with services and deployments.

The Ultimate Mock Exams are an opportunity to “drill” on harder material, and they’re worth looking into after you’ve finished the course but before you take the exam. They’re a great way of reinforcing the material, and being able to work quickly and efficiently – which is the key to passing the exam. You don’t need to do them, but I found them very helpful in preparing for renewing my CKA last year.

If you’re using Udemy, you can just cut-and-paste. AFAICT, you can’t do that from a Kodekloud.com course

Thanks Rob,

Sorry I am asking so many question. One thing to understand as I am preparing for CKA exam and as per the CKA Certification the learning path says that first is “Linux for Beginners” then “Dockers for beginners” then “Kubernetes for Beginners” then “Certified Kubernetes Administrator”

So is it mandatory that I have to go through with “Linux for Beginners” then “Dockers for beginners”

There’s nothing mandatory about following the courses in the Learning Path. It’s just advice. But I think you do need the skills those courses are trying to build. If you’ve done development, you will have some of those skills, and possibly enough to do the CKA course starting out. But you do need to have the skills to benefit from the course, I think. How you get those skills is up to you.

Thanks a lot Rob.
