7 years of IT experience. 3+ years into GCP data engineering/cloud data architect.
No interest in data engineering or data.
Interested in Kubernetes and DevOps.
No prior DevOps exposure but was once certified GCP cloud architect and GCP cloud developer. How do get past resume screening for DevOps/Kubernetes specialist roles?
Working with Python for 4 years now. I think the hardest thing is initial resume screening itself for me for such a role.
If you are not getting past resume screening then it is probably down to your resume. You need to adjust it so it is 1 to 2 pages of concise summary of relevant experience to DevOps. If you did CI/CD targeting GCP then this is DevOps.
However the market is awful at the moment. I’m seeing over 200 applicants for roles that have only be live for 12 hours. There is a deluge of experienced DevOps engineers going for lower level postings due to all the tech lay offs.
Thank you for providing insight into what the current situation is in DevOps sphere. Unfortunately, I haven’t worked on CI/CD completely until now. Just brief engagement into Kubernetes debugging. So far,I have done a POC which wasn’t pursued any further.
I was an architect in that particular engagement. So, just design and small POC is all I have on my resume(1 page). Most of the things I have fall under GCP platform consulting and GCP data engineering. There is also a career path available which takes me to RAG(retrieval augmented generation) but I don’t want to work on that. It is closely related to data again. I am not happy about AI work because it again takes me into data.
