Yes you can use a VM (Virtual Machine) on your PC. What operating systems is your PC and which Linux flavour to you want to use as a VM?
Thank you very much al1. My PC is running a windows 10 operating system. A per the Linux flavour? I really do not know, but antone that can help me prctice while and learn. Thanks .so much as I await further assistance from you.
You can install VirtualBox on your Windows 10 OS. This will allow you to run VMs, Ubuntu being one of them. There are plenty of guides online on how to install VirtualBox and also guides on how to install Ubuntu in a VM on VirtualBox.
Basically download VirtualBox and install it:
VirtualBox
Then download the Ubuntu Server 24.04 LTS ISO:
Ubuntu Server ISO
In VirtualBox you create a new VM and when you start it it should ask if you want to mount an ISO/CD-ROM - select the Ubuntu Server ISO you downloaded. Then follow the wizard to setup Ubuntu.
Great. Thanks, I’ll go ahead and do that right a way.
