Labs in nginx not working

I’m currently working on rewrite, load balancer and reverse proxy. And lab isn’t working. It becomes blank.

Hi @orca

Is this about Install and Configure Nginx as an LBR task?

If so, you can check out this thread and see if it helps.

Lab questions section becomes blank. No questions on display and no next option there.

Can you please try this in an Incognito window?

Hi @orca

To support you better: if this is a KodeKloud lab, please share the lab link. If it’s a KodeKloud Engineer task, please share the course name, level, and task name.

It is like this on every next nignx lab.

Also atleast one video of evey section doesnt marked complete on every course.

Still a link to the lab would help us help you. At this point, we don’t really know what course you’re doing, much less which lab.

Lab: Configure URL Redirects & Rewrites

I’m seeing this:

So let’s figure out:

  1. What browser are you using, on what platform.
  2. Have you tried using incognito window (or equivalent) as Santosh suggested?
  3. Are you using an external monitor or a docking station?
  4. Try toggling the theme you’re using (this is in the ellipsis menu in the upper right). What do you see when you do that?
  5. Are you running any browser extensions or plugins?
  6. Are you running graphic acceleration in your browser?

Click ok, then go to 2nd slide.

Rest other course lab is working fine. Only in nginx labs I’m having this.

???

What did you try, exactly??

So, what answer to what I asked then? I’m not seeing anything special with this lab or course. Most likely we’re talking about a browser related issue.

with no adblock on kodekloud.

Do you have chrome installed? Can you please try that, so we see if it browser makes a difference. Also, the hardware and extension questions, please.

Also, since you appear to be running on client Linux, if you have Firefox installed, please try that as well.

again same with no extension enabled on google chrome

Rather than run in dark mode/dark theme, have you tried a light theme? I don’t know much about the graphics stack in Alma Linux, and I don’t know what fonts and related settings Alma puts in. So let’s try different options in it; these are relevant to how browsers will render HTML and is likely relevant to your problem on that platform.

I have tried on windows in edge & firefox without addons & with light & dark mode as well.
There is something wrong with only nginx labs(try after 2nd slide). All other labs I have checked working fine. Please check.

I have. What do you see in light mode? An image would be useful. Also, if you know how to use your developer tools in your browsers, it might be useful to see if there are any network errors.

My working theory has been that your graphics driver does not render the font used correctly. But there is nothing I can detect at my end that suggests anything other than a problem on the system you’re using, which is not common: we don’t have a lot of Alma Linux users, and driver issues are something you often have to deal with in some LInux distributions, particularly in GNOME or other window managers. So we’ll need to troubleshoot at your end, in all likelihood.

I’m going to ask my colleagues if any of them are using GNOME on LInux regularly, and if they can take a look at this lab in it. But for now, please tell me the versions of software you’re using, including:

  • Alma release
  • Hardware you’re using.
  • What Window manager are you using, with the versions if you can figure that out.

I’ve opened a ticket in the hope that someone in our engineering group can actually check this out. For best results, please answer my questions about version, so they can see for themselves.
