Installing centos linux on virtualbox

Hi there,

I am pretty new here, trying to install centos-os on virtualbox but looks like I am doing something wrong. I am following the course as shown, but I need little help to install. Please if anyone has the same experience give me a shout.

We recommend this script to install CentOS 9 Stream for our beginner’s ansible course. Assuming you’re not using a Mac, it would be a good place to start. On a Mac, you might need to use VMWare or UME.

Sorry I should have been more specific about my pc. I am actually using mac with m1 chip. When I am trying to create the image, show the vdi file, under Linux category I can not see Redhat or centos either.

Virtualbox almost certainly won’t work for you – it’s in a poorly QA’d state even in version 7.1. I have yet to get Virtualbox to work at all either standalone or with vagrant :frowning: The Mac support is sadly substandard.

I’ve had some (if limited) luck using VMWare on my Macs. It’s a pain to get a free license, but that’s what you want to do. If you’re willing to settle for Ubuntu, Mutlipass works much better on Macs.

UTM is also an option. Here a video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FS-HJTM6Oec
