Sohaib Furqan:
Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share with you all that I passed the CKA exam with 77% today thanks to this awesome course by @Mumshad Mannambeth. Just want to say this course has everything you need to clear the exam. This was the only course that I followed.
I would like to take a moment to appreciate the efforts put into this course by the Kodekloud team. Kubernetes is not an easy technology to learn and to teach. The way Mumshad explains the core concepts is very intuitive and easy to follow. Even someone like me who is still fairly new to the Linux and DevOps world was able to clear the exam. Thanks Mumshad and Kodekloud. I can say that this has to be one of the best courses on Kubernetes and contains content worth a few hundred dollars at least which you can get on Udemy for the price of lunch ![]()
A few tips to clear the exam:
1- I went through the lectures and labs multiple times until I was absolutely sure I was comfortable with the content covered.
2 - As suggested in the course, I tested myself by randomly doing the labs and the mock tests. My focus was on ensuring I could solve all questions without looking at the solutions. Now it is not necessary to be able to get the labs and the mock tests correct the first time. What matters is you are finally able to solve those on your own before you sit the exam.
3- Use your two free sessions of killer.sh. It is very useful practice for the purposes of the exam. The simulator scenarios are way tougher than the exam so you gain the much needed confidence. Again, it is not at all important to get all questions in the simulator right or even be able to solve it on your own. I just solved the questions (even looked at the solutions) but I made sure to understand why questions were solved in the way they were solved.
4- Once you have followed these three steps, you are ready for the exam.
5 - Make sure to use a webcam with autofocus. This will be useful in making the check-in process easier. Also use a larger monitor if possible when taking the exam. I used the Logitech C920 1080HD webcam and it worked well.
6- The last AND the most important tip - and I can’t stress this enough: While taking the exam it is EXTREMELY important to not get hung up on one question. If something does not make sense, flag the question and move to the next ones. There are many easy questions that can help boost your score.
Now some suggested improvements to the course - just a few:
1- The course already has many useful labs, however I feel that it could do with some more scenario based practice exercises on topics like network policies, ingress etc.
2- I guess that things change very fast with a technology as dynamic as Kubernetes, however some parts of the course need to be updated. Off the top of my head I can think of the etcd backup and restore lab exercises.
All in all great course.
Thank you @Mumshad Mannambeth and Kodekloud. Looking forward to clear the RHCSA using this awesome platform now. Good luck to everyone ![]()
