I would say, happy to be corrected… The PV aims to provision storage without being tied to a pod vs a volume which is assigned within the pod definition. Thus the PV is for a storage admin to provision storage that can be claimed through a PVC for different clients (Pods). In addition, with storage classes the provisioners automatically creates the PVs without having to manually create them
