Hello guys. I m gonna take CKAD exam in few weeks and i ve got some (maybe minor . . .

Dimitris Pilios:
Hello guys. I m gonna take CKAD exam in few weeks and i ve got some (maybe minor) questions regarding the exam process:

  1. I m gonna use my laptop (with build-in webcam) + an extra monitor. My laptop battery is not working properly so practically i have the laptop plugged in all the time. This means that at the beginning of the exam i will have to show a 360 wide view of the room while holding the laptop while it is plugged in. Also, the HDMI cable connecting the extra monitor will be plugged into the laptop at the time of the 360 view of the room. Do you think this is gonna be difficult or the proctor may have any objection?
  2. There is a preview of the exam screen uploaded by linuxfoundation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UqkWcdy140 . So in the exam tab of my browser the only content i will see is that? Or there will also be some small area for interacting with the proctor, like chatting with proctor, etc ?
  3. What about my PC tasks and services running in background? May the proctor examine thoroughly my task manager and ask me to shutdown every such service? For example there may be apps i have set to run at PC startup like Everything, ClipX, Greenshot, etc
  4. To my understanding, the exam page program will override every keyboard shortcut i have on my PC. So for example i will not be able to copy anything from PC clipboard to the exam page area. Am i right?
  5. Will i be able to execute any preparation work, like configuring VIM text editor or Bash on base node BEFORE my exam session starts? Or every work has to be done inside exam session?
  6. I know that many exam questions share a common cluster. But are there some of them also sharing a common namespace? If yes, this means that, while performing tasks for a question, say X, you can view in the same namespace the kubernetes resources you produced in a previous question, say Y. This could be a bit confusing

Vitor Jr.:

  1. Yes, it will be very difficult.
  2. There is a pop up window to chat with a proctor.
  3. ~You need to download ONVUE Browser. When you launch it will ask to close specific processes.~ Wrote for another certification, sorry: you need to install PSI add on on chrome. My advice: create a new profile only for the exam without any extension except PSI one.
  4. You can copy and paste from exam to terminal window with shortcuts. Read the docs to check which keys are for your system.
  5. No.
  6. We can’t comment on exam questions. There is one NDA about it.

chris resnik:
6. discussing questions is not allowed, but i think it’s safe to say this:
read the question properly. if you need to log in to a different cluster or change to a namespace or context, then it is mentioned. therefor reading the question properly is essential

chris resnik:
regarding #1, i think it’s no problem. i took a different exam two weeks ago and showed the 360 view while plugged in to power, but no external monitor. when in doubt, point it out to the proctor

Hi @Dimitris Pilios
4) You are able to copy & paste declarative yaml file’s from k8s doc to exam console.
6) I would say, you don’t need to worry about the previous questions, always concentrate the current question and make sure that you are in the right context, right cluster, right node & right namespace. that’s it.
