Experiences in about getting a devops job as junior

Hi

Just want to know for some help in getting a job in devops as a junior but with a lot of technical (certification included) experience but without any job experience in the field, any recommendation will be appreciated. Also I want to know if you know some specific web pages to find a devops job like glassdoor or getinbrd. I’m having difficulties in finding jobs related with kubernetes in specific right now, so if you know some pages that could be used to find more easily a devops job I will appreciate that so much.

If I’m not wrong back in time I read that KK engineer will be used to facilitate job entries. Does that functionality is now working ?

Have a nice week!
Best Regards

Because DevOps is not an entry level skill, it is very, very difficult to walk straight into a role with no practical experience, no matter how many certs you have. Just like you won’t get the top job when you are fresh out of university.

If you have been a developer or an ops engineer, it’s easier although if you want a kubernetes job, recruiters are looking for Kubernetes experience on the resume. The easiest way then is to get a job somewhere you know kubernetes is being used, but not in the team managing kubernetes. Then when you are established, prove to that team that you know your stuff and push for an internal move when a position opens.

As for the KKE part, I can’t find the Linked In site it used to be associated with. I have asked the question.

Thanks @Alistair_KodeKloud for the reply. I’ll be in waiting for the KKE answer.

Do you think is possible for a junior to get a job in being a sys admin first (Linux in this case), and then move around to k8s as you said ?

Hi,

It is more likely that you’d be able to enter in a junior sysadmin role. It is good experience too. Nail that position and demonstrate your ability to automate things with scripts and ansible (if it’s being used). Cozy up to the guys doing the kube stuff at social events etc .

Thanks @Alistair_KodeKloud for the reply. I think I’ll be doing that, among other things. Thanks for the help, and forgive me in my late reply, I was very very busy until today. Now I’m going to be more in kodekloud.

Have a nice week!
