Venkat:
Does anyone know how to disable or stop yourphone.exe in windows 10. PSI browser blocked my exam due to this for the past 30 mins.

Alistair Mackay:
Can you not kill it from Windows task manager?

Adam G:
from a command prompt run taskkill /IM yourphone.exe /F

Alistair Mackay:
You also many be able to toggle it from background apps

Windows Key + I

Search background apps
If myphone is in there, switch off

Imthiyas Mohamed:
to avoid it from restarting… can be disabled in group policy - Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Group Policy… Double-click on the configuration listing named as Phone-PC linking on this device to set as disabled … then run gpupdate /target:computer /force

Venkat:
do I need to install gpedit.msc

Imthiyas Mohamed:
if using Windows Home edition then gpedit not available by default. instead use registry edit method.

Imthiyas Mohamed:

  1. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
  2. Type regedit, and click OK to open the Registry.
  3. Browse the following path:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\WindowsQuick Tip: On Windows 10, you can now copy and paste the path in the Registry’s address bar to quickly jump to the key destination.
  4. Right-click the Windows (folder) key, select New, and click on Key.
  5. Name the key System and press Enter.
  6. Right-click the newly created key, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.
  7. Name the key EnableMmx and press Enter.
  8. Double-click the newly created DWORD key and make sure that its value is set to 0.
  9. Click OK.
