CKA exam - etcd restore

One the question I got little confused was restoring etcd and scenario did not show the data dir path.
I used the existing data dir on the etcd yaml manifest. It gave me write error and I ended making another sub-dr inside it to complete the restore process.
Not sure if I got any positive score for that.
Is there a better way to approach this scenario?

I probably needed to updated the path in the etcd.yaml manifest hostpath: path
