Account Restricted After Lab Exercise - Need Help

Hi everyone,

I am hoping someone here can help me or has had a similar experience.

While working on a Kubernetes lab, I accidentally removed my hosts file which had the IP mappings for my lab nodes. To find the missing information, I used a network utility tool which unfortunately triggered a security alert and my account got restricted.

I had zero bad intentions - I was simply trying to restore my lab environment and continue learning. I was not aware that this particular tool was not allowed in the lab environment.

I have already reached out to support@kodekloud.com to explain what happened and request a review of my account.

Has anyone else been in this situation before? How long did the resolution take?

Also as a tip for other students - always keep a backup of your hosts file before making changes in lab environments!

Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

Please DM me with your email address; this will help us investigate your case.

Thanks Rob, Really appreciate for your support

OK, got a reply. They unlocked your account.

You definitely never want to use nmap in somebody else’s network unless you ask for permission in advance. People watch for this on their networks, because nmap is the kind of tool one uses if one is breaking into a system, so doing a port scan gets the attention immediately in any monitored network, as ours is :frowning: So consider this a lesson learned, and don’t do that
