Is AWS OpenSearch available through AWS Playground?

I would like to know if I can use AWS OpenSearch as it leads to some permission issues.

I believe we do, with some restrictions you can find towards the bottom of the launch page for the playground. It lists these issues:

Allowed:

  • Instance types allowed:- t3.small.search, t3.medium.search
  • Max Allowed Domains:- 1
  • Max Data Node Count:- 1
  • Dedicated Master Nodes not permitted
  • Maximum allowed IOPS per node:- 3000
  • Max allowed throughput:- 125 MiB/s per node
  • Max allowed VPC endpoints:- 1

Thank you @rob_kodekloud

Hi Rob, I am trying to create the OpenSearch through the available options, but it was not possible to choose the Engine Version (as it is loading for longer time without fetching the options to choose). Unable to proceed further

It looks like you cannot create an “OpenSearch domain” – I don’t get an engine version either. I’ll pass this to our playground engineer, to see if this can be made to work. One thing would be helpful to me here: could you please list the steps you took to get to this point? I tried:

  1. “Create new domain”
  2. Gave name for the proposed domain.
  3. Could NOT choose an engine version.

Did you do this, or something else?

Yes exactly, I was blocked after the above mentioned steps.

Hi @rob_kodekloud, Please advice me if our playgorund engineer has resovled the above issue. I am trying now and still the versions were not listed yet.

Please be informed that AWS OpenSearch was the first thing I tried and is actually blocking me (from the day I subscribed to KodeKloud). Looking forward your advice. Please consider.

It being August, a lot of engineers are on vacation or not working on bugs for at least this week (a company meet-up is in progress). But your issue got assigned to an engineer a few hours ago; I’d expect it will take a couple of days before it’s ready.
