The course shows a quite old version of Jenkins, where most of the configuration menus have different names (probably it does not matter much).
The problem is that in question 2 of lab “Managing users and permissions” the answers to chose are the ones from old Jenkins.
It would appear that that the version of Jenkins in the lab is too far diverged from the course version for you to get at the Role-Based plugin. I can’t get it to even install correctly for the lab. I’ve passed this to engineering and asked them to get it preinstalled, along with updating the plugin installs generally.
Part of the issue is that the lab does not install the Role Based Access plugin (this is mentioned in the previous lecture). To find this in the UI, you need to:
- Install the plugin.
- Restart Jenkins
- Under Manage Jenkins / Security, configure Authorization to allow for Role Based access control; this will make the item appear in the UI.
We’ve upgraded these labs. Please give it a try; it should work for you now. Thanks for reporting this!
