While practicing on the Lab it keeps referring to using an existing template in a directory

example : 1. We have prepared a template for you named deploy-custom-template.json located at /root/arm-templates Please copy and paste your ARM template JSON code into the provided editor.

where is the machine? it is kind of confusing.

You need to create the deployment template in the Azure portal. The credentials were provided in the first question.
